MISSIONS AT ALIVE CHURCH

Reaching the Unreached. Planting Churches.

Making Disciples.

Missions at Alive Is:

  • Biblically grounded

  • Relationally driven

  • Strategically focused

  • Unapologetically about the unreached

OUR VISION

We believe God’s primary means of reaching the world is through the local church.
At Alive Church, our missions focus is clear: we support long-term, strategic efforts to plant churches and make disciples among unreached people groups — communities with little or no access to the gospel (less than 2% Christian).

Why the Unreached?

Why the Unreached?

Over 3 billion people today live in cultures where they may live and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus. Only 3.4% of global missionaries are serving among these peoples. We want to help change this great imbalance.

We accomplish this vision by partnering with Global Partners and by mobilizing the body of Christ for God’s global purpose.

Global Partners

Our church supports and regularly prays for our global partners who are:

  • Planting churches or relationally discipling cross-culturally

  • Planning to serve long-term (7+ years) in unreached contexts

  • Learning local languages and cultures for deep, relational ministery

  • Committed to biblical contextualization, not Westernization

  • Working with teams, not going alone

  • Pursuing indigenous sustainability (self-led, self-sustaining, self-replicating churches)

  • Sent by missions agencies with integrity, sound doctrine, and healthy accountability; and/or

  • Endorsed by local churches with proven character and ministry experience

Our Global Partners are working in some of the hard-to-reach regions of the world.

For security reasons, we don’t list names or locations online.

We give regular updates about our global partners in-person during our Sunday morning services.

We prioritize relationship in our partnerships. All of our global partners are relationally connected to Alive Church or to churches in the Fredericksburg area.

Mobilization

In addition to partnering with those who are going, we also aim to mobilize our church family in 5 key ways:

GOING

Our short-term Exposure Trips are not project-focused—they’re perspective-shaping. We believe long-term workers, rooted in culture and language, are best equipped for ministry. When we go short-term, our goals are to:

  • Bless and encourage our long-term partners

  • Learn to pray more strategically

  • Gain a deeper understanding of unreached cultures and God’s mission

PRAYING

We regularly pray for our global partners during Sunday services, in Life Groups, and at our interactive Culture Nightsfun evenings where we experience a culture and end by praying together. We also recommend Joshua Project as a great tool for praying for unreached people groups.

WELCOMING

The nations are coming to us—through refugees, immigrants, and international students. We want to welcome them with the love of Christ. One way to get equipped is through Blend, which provides opportunities to build relationships, help families navigate life in the U.S., or volunteer in ESL classes. We also recommend the Unreached Within Reach workshops put on by a partnership through Global Gates.

GIVING

Generosity fuels mission. 7% of our entire budget at Alive goes directly to support workers and organizations serving among unreached people groups. When you give here, you join us in being a part of what God is doing among the unreached.

LEARNING

We partner with organizations that educate and inspire believers toward God’s global mission:

  • Fredericksburg Missions Collective – A local, diverse network raising awareness and equipping believers for disciple-making among the unreached. Learn more here.

  • Perspectives on the World Christian Movement – A renowned class that has deeply shaped our vision for missions, available both online and in person. Explore Perspectives.
